Here is your devotion:
Decisions, decisions, decisions!
by Heather Hart
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.
Psalm 32:8
I don't know about you, but my life is always changing! There are always new decisions that need to be made: do I go to college, and if so where? Do I need to get a job, and if so where? Do I need to quit the job I have, if so do I get a new one, and if so where? Is one of my friends a bad influence, and if so how do I need to handle it? These decisions along with many, many more are things that we will face for the rest of our lives. Today's verse tells us that God will instruct us and teach us in the way we should go; that He will counsel us and watch over us. How awesome is that! God is like our personal guidance counselor and He is available 24/7! We can pray and ask Him to guide us, and read His word and see what instructions He has given for us in Scripture.
There are so many things that we face on a daily basis, but we can take comfort in the fact that we don't face these things alone. God is right here with us and He is our instructor, our counselor, our mighty God who is watching over us. He is ready to listen and answer our prayers, all we have to do is ask.  Matthew 7:7 says that if we seek we will find. All we need to do is seek God's direction for our lives, ask Him what His will for our lives or a certain situation is, and He will give us the answer. It might not always be the answer that we want to hear, but it will be the answer that He has planned for us that will work out the best in the end. We just need to have faith in Him and trust His plans for us.
Reflection:
Are there any decisions that you have been trying to make on your own that you need to stop and ask how God wants you to handle the situation?
Application Step:
Make a list of things that you are trying to make decisions about right now. Pray about each thing on the list and ask God to guide you in how to handle each situation. If you aren't already reading your Bible daily, I recommend starting to do so. Pick a book and read it all the way through.
Prayer:
Father God, thank you for being who you are! You are so amazing! Please guide me in my life and in my decisions, help me to follow the path that you want me to take. Please help me to find instruction in your word and apply it to my life. And LORD, please help me to pause to look to you for guidance before moving ahead. Thank you for being so forgiving of me when I misstep and go my own way. You are such a mighty God, and I love you so much! In Jesus holy name I pray, Amen.
